Brass knuckles

I recently read a book in order to get a concealed permit. I reda a paragraph that threw me off a little bit.

"It is also illegal for any person who deals in weapons (any type of weapons -- not just federally licensed firearms dealers) to sell a dirk, Bowie knife, brass nuckles, electric weapon, or slugshot (ie: a flexible handled weapon with a weight on the end used for striking) to anyone UNDER the age of 18 years -- even with their parents permission. However, it is legal for the parent to purchase such a weapon, and then give it to the child as a gift."

Okay, now with that being out of the way. My question to you is, are brass knuckle legal to carry and/or even have?

I always thought they were illegal to even have.
