I just received a revolver that was my grandmother's. On the barrel is "model 732 32 s & W." On the "body" (or what do you call it?), is H & R Inc. USA. Does someone out there have any information on this revolver? I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Sounds like a perfectly typical Harrington & Richardson revolver. Thousands and thousands were made before H&R stopped producing revolvers in the 1980's. They were decent, reliable little guns.

If your gun is in good condition it will fire .32 S&W Long ammo or .32 ACP ammo.

The H&R Model 732 is a reliable, inexpensive but well made firearm. Production started circa 1952. I have several in my H&R collection and have fired a few of those. The are chambered for .32 S&W and/or .32 S&W Long. I would not attempt to fire .32 acp ammo in it. The extractor will not eject the fired cartridges and I would be leary of the higher pressure generated by the acp round. Most current factory loaded .32 S&WLong ammo is loaded to around or less than 14,000 CUP, which is fairly mild to protect all the older revolvers that have been made in this caliber since its introduction around 1878. Stick with the ammo the gun was designed to shoot and enjoy shooting it. Recoil is very mild even in the 2 1/2" guns with the small rounded grips. Keep the inner workings well lubricated, drop of oil before and after the hammer strut, drop of oil into the hand slot, another into the cylinder bolt, one more on the crane hinge and one each on the ejector rod and the space between the rod bushing and the cylinder and on the ejector shaft while extended. These guns will bind if shot dry, especially the later ones as the machining seems to have gone down hill just before H&R went bankrupt in 1986. If you provide the serial number found on the bottom of the butt strap, we can determine the year of manufacture.

32 Magnum laid it all out fairly well. Keep it clean and lightly oiled to protect it.

    Also,

    WELCOME !

Substitute the word 'frame' for your wording of 'body'.

I have one just as you described. It's small, light, and has proven reliable. If I were to carry it often I would have to replace the grips with some of the 'rubber formed' grips.
