S & W .32 long ctg revolver

Greetings,
I recently aquired a S & W .32 long ctg revolver. It is a 6-shot, with push button cylinder release. The serial number stamped on the butt is 50115. The barrel is 1 7/8 inches long from the end of the cylinder to the tip of the barrel. It is currently a single-action, but believe it was double before. It is stamped "32 long ctg" on the left side of the barrel.
I would like to replace the shell extractor rod (?) and the hammer pin for they are both worn. Do you have any words of wisdom for me? Thank you.

Yes. Figure out who the manufacturer was.

It has a S & W trade mark stamp on the left hand side, under the cylinder release push lever and the same mark on the top of the grips. How many manufactures do S & W?

Smith & Wesson made over a million .32 caliber revolvers, and companies in Spain and Belgium made a million copies of the S&W revolvers.

If your gun is truly a S&W product (sound like it is) you should be able to find parts for it on the internet. Try searching for "Smith & Wesson parts".

Try http://www.e-gunparts.com/ as they stock nearly all of the parts for your S&W. It sounds like you have a .32 Military and Police model. You need to post photos so that we can be sure, as the value of a .32 M&P is rather high. What makes me think that it may be the barrel length, but it could have been cut down. Do not fire it until it has been repaired by a good gunsmith, as almost all S&W .32 revolvers are double action, the only exception being the Model One and One Half.
Also check to see if there is a letter in front of the serial number.

I think it's the 1903 Hand Ejector 1st change though I haven"t seen the pictures. Too bad the barrel's cut so short.
Is it the firing pin or the pin holding the firing pin in that's bad?
Describe what's wrong with the ejector rod?
Note that the ejector rod has a LEFT hand thread.

It is the pin holding the firing pin that's missing (Resides in the hammer assembly.). The multiple ridged part that advances the cylinder is worn. It is on top of and a part of the shell extractor rod, that mates with the front face under the breach action location. The barrel is not cut short. It has a factory front sight ridge at the end. I wish I could figure out how to post the images. Email me at oceanacres@gmail.com and I will send them to you for reference. Thank you.

Here are instructions for posting pictures. Other folks have followed them with success in the past.

Start a new topic when you post your pictures, as this one will be locked after 10 posts.

First thing you need is a site to host your picture. What I mean by that is that you will need to upload your pictures to a web site that will host(display) them for you. You should not use your hard drive to host pictures for safety sake. Use www.photobucket.com to host your pictures.

After you have uploaded your pictures to the site that will host them for you(per their directions), the next thing you will want to do is go to the picture hosting site and view the picture. While you are viewing the picture, right click on it and you'll see another window that should pop up, now click on "properties" and copy the picture URL. If you know how to "copy & paste" this will be a piece of cake.

Now that you have the picture URL and your ready to post your picture. Do the following, use the following code except take out the "*" asterisk. The "*" asterisk is used here only so you can see the code. In other words if I posted the code without the "*" asterisk you will see a picture instead of the code. Anyways use this code to post your picture..

It is the S&W model of 1903 and the barrel was cut down. The sight was brazed in, unlike the original sight which was integral with the barrel just as the ejector rod catch housing is.
There is supposed to be a hole through the firing pin rivet in the hammer and the firing pin should wobble slightly up and down.
Send a picture of the cylinder rear.
Does the cylinder rotate and lock in place?
