I was at the pawn Friday and saw what I thought was a 929 which up close turned out to be a 949. Couldn't pass up the heavy barrel and nice grips.
Could someone tell me the date of manufacture? The first six digits of the serial number are AX1965. Thanks, Mike

    Your gun was made in 1981 ('AX' prefix). They are well built and substantial guns and some shoot very accurately, others are good for 'plinking'. I have a couple in my collection and one must have been rifled with brand new cutters, it's amazingly accurate for a mid-priced firearm.
