I just came in with my latest pawn shop prize.A model 60 Marlin/Glenfied. Is a little scratched up (stock & bluing) but for $59.95 guarenteed working for 30 days I couldn't pass it up.My plan is to use it this fall and refinish and cold blue it over the winter.I've dabbled in stock refinishing but never tried to cold blue anything. any information I can get would be appreciated

They are tough as heck, and just keep going. Mines loves the milk-carton pack high velocity Federal ammo for $10 per 550.
I can't comment on bluing, but I think the receiver might be alloy and not take it very well.
All I'd add is that since these are common as dirt (with used ones under $75 plentiful), and even new ones are pretty cheap, I wouldn't spend too much time and money trying to fix one up.
PS: A kid might appreciate the ability to shoot semi-auto, but the 39 is just a better gun!
