Hornady JHP ammunition

Good morning all, I was looking at the Hornady JHP ammunition for use as a home defense round. Does anyone know how it compares to the remington Golden Saber and Federal Hydroshock ammunitions? Hornady was about $4.00 cheaper a box than the other two. Thanks for your input.

Are you talking about the XTP's? If so, yes, they are very good loads for personal protection.

The XTP bullet has been used in large bore pistols and muzzleloaders by hunters for some time now. Many a deer, bear, elk have fallen to this bullet.

Yes, they are XTP's. They feed great with less recoil than most. But I have not seen or heard much on the ballistics of the round.

I am not sure about the factory loadings, but I load the Hornady XTPs exclusively in my personal defense ammo (.357 and .45) and for my .44 mag hunting ammo. After seeing what they do to a deer, I am not hesitant at all to trust my well-being to them.

Hold on, they are HP/XTP's. Is there a difference. I believe that the HP is for home protection.

No the HP is for Hollow Point, the XTP stands for eXtreme Terminal Performance. It is Hornady's HP design.

Personnely? I prefere any round that fires, Hollow point to FMJ.
I figure that, If a body is hit with any bullet, that person will want to go home and lay down awhile. (or not).

shoot till its over! then reload!

There is an XTP flat point as well as a HP in some calibers.
