Can anyone tell me how I can learn more about the history and value of a 2", Ethan Allen & Co. pistol (appears to be .22 cal.). The left side of the barrel has the manufacturer's name and "Worcester, Mass." Also xxx Pat's Sept. 7, Nov. 9, 1858 - Sept. xxx 1861 or 1881. Mother of pearl handles and serial number of 3909. The serial number is on the gun frame, the removable revolver cylinder and the rod that holds it in place. Very good condition.

According to Flaydermans Guide only late versions of the Allen & Wheelock .22 Sidehammer Rimfire Revolver, are marked with the Ethan Allen & Co. name.

Flayderman has a whole section devoted to Ethan Allen firearms and a extensive bibliography. It would be worth your while to get your hands on a copy, if you want to research your revolver in depth.
