Im trying to decide on a new rifle. Im sure of the caliber. a 300 win mag. I own a couple of older sako's but have been looking at the kimber. the sako 75 hunter fits well, and the kimber reminds me of my dads old mod70. how has kimber quality held up since taking over kimber of oregon? I have issues with the new barretta/sako as well. price for both is fair with kimber alittle less. thanks for the input.

I wouldn't buy (i.e. order) either sight unseen. Largely because I'm a big fan of nice wood and have seen incredible variation in the new Kimbers. I've seen some really nice Kimbers, but I also saw a high end rifle (what K.of O. used to call the Super American) that was an embarassment; poorly fitted buttplate, messed up checkering, etc. Really sad. Can't comment on the new Sakos. My tastes are to older ones. Fall in love and buy used.

Spend a little more and get this, gauranteed MOA out to 1000yds....

In all seriousness though, CZ, Browning, Remington, and Weatherby all make excellent rifles. If you have issues with the two you have chosen, look at a couple others.

+ 1 on CUBS...you rock for finding that one. That way you spend most of your money on a good rifle with great optics instead of just a rifle.

for that price,..I could garantee 1/2moa at 1000yds over that CZ with a good shooter (the same thing that makes for their claim of 1moa). A rem700 worked over with a great barrel and stock would only be just under $2000 with trigger and all labor. Add a $1500 Nightforce,..and you are in business.

Between Sako and Kimber,..I'd go Sako. Kimber is custom (more or less) and will be harder to sell as well as recover cost from. MHO

+2 on the SAKO. Actually you might consider a Tikka too if price is a factor, as they are a no frills, but highly functional and accurate rifle. With the SAKO, there are some 75's out there still, and the new model 85. The choice of chambering you chose is AWESOME!
