You have to leave it in the car. Any place that does not want you to carry only has to post a sign Stating no carry allowed. You are breaking the law by carring in those places. What I like to do is cut out articles of murders and robberies out of the newspaper and copy them and leave them behind for the workers of those places to read. I also try to not give my money to places that have the signs.

Kroger posted those signs in the Ohio stores when we first got our ccw's. A bunch of us from our gun club got together and wrote letters to the HQ and told them we would on longer buy from them. The signs soon came down [:D][:D]

I don't know about Ohio but, in Virginia, "No guns" means you can't bring a gun in whether it's concealed or not (not that they would know if properly concealed). Violation is a simple trespass, not a firearms violation. "No guns unless otherwise authorized by law" means CCW holders can carry but they don't want open carry or hunters, target shooters, etc., walking in with a rifle slung over their shoulder which may intimidate customers.

    midnightrunpaintballer,

In this instance, you need to be careful not to make the mistake that because you have a state issued CCW vs. local issued that you may have authority. I am assuming that state issued would relate to a duty or specific reason that you are carrying. i.e. you are protecting someone or have imminent reason for protection. Not, as local or state can authorize carry as a reason of preference.
In other words if you choose to carry you may not be able to go in. If you, or your charge/ward have been threatened, or your job mandates you carry while off-duty you need to be able to carry it in.

    midnightrunpaintballer,

Then in this case I would say that you don't have the 'authority' to supercede that business owners wish that you don't carry in his place of business. That is just my opinion, based on what I know of the laws here. A check to your local sheriff would be the best answer.

School zones/activities are a real tough one.

i don't need any "authority" and the school zones are pretty well outlined on the attourney generals website. i was just confused as to whether or not a ccw holder is "otherwise authorized" or if it doesn't count. feedback on this question has been mixed. some say it counts, others say it doesn't. would the sherriffs dept be able to give me a for sure answer? any other suggestions? i'm not carrying because of a job, i'm carrying because i can. i just want to make sure that i carry 100% legally. thanks guys

Sorry man, I misunderstood. I think if anything is posted about firearm prohibitions in places it means everyone other than law enforcement officers are prohibited (CHL or not).
