Moon clips

Always wanted a wheel gun in .45acp. Got a S&W 625. How many times can the moon clip be used before it becomes worn out?

There's tools called "demooners". Long as you use them, ( to remove the fired cases ) and are careful not to abuse or bend the clips, quite a while.

Metal ones - unless you bend them they last a long time. Same for full moon clips. I have a bunch of 45 ACP revolvers and use AR instead of the ACP.

I shoot my 3in. 625 in matches and bought some X-tra full moon clips. They are not expensive. Just use a de-mooner to unload them.

I usually use Wilson or one of the other top brands of clips and they last along time if like suggested you use a tool to remove the empties. Brownells sells one pretty cheap that has a screwdriver handle. Cheap clips equals cheap and they don't last long. I tried the RIMZ plastic clips. They work okay for my 10mm but the 45 are pretty flimsy IMO.

Why no just shot 45 auto rim? Thats what I shoot in my model 25, and in an old Webley that been converted to 45 acp, saves alot of bs.

More positive ejection than with auto rim,if that's what your going for.

Auto-Rim ammo & brass is expensive and not easy to come by. My 2?, it's just a needless complication. If you have the the high quality, steel, moon clips and don't bend/abuse them.
