Antique reloading equipment and fired brass?

I cleaned out the basement of my wifes grandfather who passed away. I found tons of fired brass which breaks down as follows: about 2/3rds of a 20MM ammo can of .38 special. At least a full 50 cal small can of .45 ACP and also a small 50 cal can of 30 cal(30-06). The ACP and the 30 cal are mostly military (various headstamps) and are from the 50's and 60's. Is it worth trying to sell to reloaders or should I just scrap it for the brass. I also have about 300 pounds of bullet lead ingots, bullet molds(ideal), and a lot of reloading dies for various calibers which don't match anything I shoot. Also found were a bunch of upper receivers from M1911 colt pistols along with barrels and parts. The neatest thing is an old chronograph built by DuPont that came from Lake City which appears to be vintage 1940's. The hardware is still in a foot locker in cosmolene and the assembly/ instruction book is still with it.

Hello I think you will find that scrap price today is at a all time high . I had an estate that had over 250,000 rounds of 45ACP and 50,000 rounds of 38 special I sold a bunch on EBAY for $.02 a round plus shipping before they changed their rules . I also was able to sell some here on Gunbroker. but the 38 special did not sell well. I ended up selling this for scrap. I kept about 100,000 45 all of this was once fired from match 1911's and k38's. You can now get that for scrap brass my suggestion would be see if your local gun club has a buy and sell list for their members. but with the price of shipping most people will not bid over scrap price. Likewise used reloading equipment is a hard sell unless it is old enough to be collector item. The one exception is STAR reloading presses they sell well $400.00 up if complete. The pistol parts will be of interest as older colt parts are all-ways in demand. please go back to this post if you list for sale here.

I'd say list it on the auction side and put a plug in the general discussion forum.

I know I'd be interested in bidding on some of it.

    Welcome to the forum!!

everything you have will seel on Gunbroker's auction side. Some better than others of course.
Lead is a hot item right now, lots of casters vs. dwindeling lead supplies. It will ship in a Post Office flat rate box just like anything else will.

try searching the GB auction site for similiar items and go from there.

    and don't be a stranger!! :)

Some time ago an old friend of mine died and his relatives got all his reloading equipment.
I remember that he had quite an assortment of mini dies that were very valuable at that time (30 yrs ago)
It might be wise to get someone to look over what you have before you sell it.
