I would like to mount a scope on my 500. I have heard of the scope mounts breaking. Are these just rumors or is there truth to this?

    That's true of any heavy recoiling handgun. Best advice is to use a quality scope mount and scope. The scope mount that came with my S&W 500 PC was made of steel. Avoid cheap.
