Last year I got a Stevens 223. I do not care to much for the trigger pull, I would like for it to be lighter. Is there any way for me to adjust it myself, do I have to buy a new trigger assembly, or simply let a gun smith work on it?

There is a way to adjust it. It basically lightens the sear pressure, you can get it down to about 4lbs. If you want a better trigger, Timney and Sharpshooter both build trigger assy's for them. You should be able to get one installed for just over $100.
