early to mid 90's gun, shoots like a house afire with horandy 55gr varmint express or TAP, my question being what twist rate did Winchester use,I know about the cleaning rod trick to check but its shooting to good to clean! Thanks in advance, very best Thanksgiving all...

My list has two references for the sporters:
1:9" and 1:12" with no discerning information.
The use of the cleaning rod with a patch will certainly not hurt the accuracy of your rifle even if it removes a little of the fouling present in the barrel. In your situation, I'd set the rod and patch up so that I was sure what the actual twist rate was.
Best.
Good for you! Running the rod will settle the question of twist rate for sure.
If it is the 1:12" twist, you should be able to handle 63 gr. standard ogive bullets. Any variations such as VLD designed bullets usually require a slightly faster twist. I have used the 60 gr. Hornady VMAX and the 60 gr. Nosler Partition in 1:12" twist barrels with great success.
Best.
