    Hi,

Here are some suggestions. I would look at these first since these seem to cause the greatest problems with most rifles.

Make certain your scope is firmly secured in the mounts and make certain the mounts are firmly secured to the rifle. The scope and mounts need to fastened tightly with no movement.

I would also look at how securely the barrel and action fit into the stock. Often the fit between the two is not good and movement can occur which will through the shot off. It may require buying a bedding kit and bedding the receiver and barrel in the stock to reduce play.

    Regards,

    Heavyiron

You also might try swaping out the scope for one that you are sure is good, like off another rifle that shoots well. But, unfortunetly you are asking about either a mini14 or mini30 and their rep is that some of them are just plain awful. I have a twenty some odd years old mini14 that has never shot either all that good or all that bad. Four to six inch groups have always been the norm no matter what I've tried. Tinker with yours and you may well improve it. I eventually took the scope off mine and shoot it iron sighted. Good luck.....

As heavy iron pointed out check scope and mounts. Then check nut behind trigger and make sure you have a solid rest. I can't count how many guys refused a rear rest at our deer rifle sight in and were then satisfied with 6 inch groups at a hundred yards. Your rifle is only known for about 'minute of coyote' out to 200 yds. accuracy. After you've check the optics then check the barrel. Open the action and lock it, and see if anything looks obviously out of round or something like that. The mini-14's have been notoriously wild with their accuracy. I've come across a few good ones but it doesn't mean that some/a lot of them haven't been pretty bad.

I had a mini-14 that I never could get good accuracy out of. It is a great gun for spraying a crowd of terrorists using 30 round mags but that's about it. Sold it. I won't have a gun that is not accurate. I have a few Ruger 10/22's and every one has been accurate especially if you put in a good trigger. accuracynut

see if the objective bell of the scope is touching the area on the plastic handguard where the attachment screw is located. That will force the scope's internals all over the place.
