The Walther web site has a press release stating that the 9mm PPS started shipping on November 5. Not just the "first edition" model but the standard model.

Has anyone out there seen them in a store yet?

They also stated the .40 version will be released in early 2008.

Walther Begins Shipping PPS Pistols

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 5, 2007) - Smith & Wesson Corp., announced today that it has begun shipping the new Walther PPS pistol in 9mm along with the PPS First Edition model. The PPS "Polizeipistole Schmal" translated as Police Pistol Slim, is designed with exclusive features found only on Walther firearms. Combining proven technology in an easy to use platform, the PPS continues the company's longstanding tradition of innovation and technical expertise.
Providing the best of both concealment and comfort, the PPS offers users a compact firearm with the versatility and power needed for concealed carry. Featuring exceedingly thin dimensions, the PPS is standard with a 3.2-inch barrel and measures 6.3 inches in overall length. For better concealment, the PPS frame and slide measure a thin 1.04 inches in total width. The 9mm model has an empty weight of 19.4 ounces and is packaged with a six and a seven-round magazine.
Manufactured with distinctive Walther features like the patented QuickSafeT technology, a variety of magazine capacities and two different backstrap sizes, the Walther PPS is well-suited for personal protection. The striker fired action PPS is standard with a flat slide stop lever, a picatinny-style accessory rail and a 3-dot low profile contoured sight. With three magazines of different lengths available along with alternate backstrap sizes, the PPS grip length and size can be adjusted to fit any hand.
A key safety feature of the PPS is the incorporation of Walther's QuickSafe technology. By simply removing the backstrap from the frame, the striker assembly is de-cocked and the pistol is incapable of firing. Additional standard features on the PPS include a loaded chamber indicator located on top of the slide along with a cocking indicator on the rear of the slide that provides the user with a visual reference that the firing pin is in the cocked position.
In commemoration of the pistol's introduction in the United States, Walther is offering a First Edition model limited to 1,000 units. The First Edition model, chambered in 9mm, features a polymer frame with an anthracite grey finish and is laser engraved with the words "First Edition" on the slide. The First Edition pistol is packaged with a six, seven, and eight-round magazine (a total of 3 magazines) in an aluminum gun case. The Walther PPS
