Back to my Expert Buddies. I am trying to find out if the markings on the back of these grips are goverment issue or aftermarket. I have a few pairs and they came out of my Grandfathers storage (50+years) but looking on the internet I am finding bakelite grips with just numbers no markings. Hope there is an expert on the Colts up tonight.

USGI Keystone grips (that's what the K is for) with reinforcing rings; as issued on late WWII Ithaca, Remington Rand, & US&S 1911A1's.

-Okay, I'm gonna jump in and ask a M1911 grip question too.

I had two pairs of these grips, and a guy that seemed to know what he was talking about paid me $70.00 for one set of them. This fellow that bought the one set told me that the grips are from an early 1920s refurbishment program that occurred after WWI.

So, I now have one set of these rosewood, double-diamond pattern 1911 grips that I am not sure of, despite what this fellow told me.

The grips are in like-new, mint condition. There are no markings on the reverse side of the grips.

Anyone have any idea regarding the accuracy of his information?

All double diamond U.S. Military grips were walnut never rosewood.Hello Wolf the wood grips did not have any markings and at the start of WW II many of the 1911 pistols were rebuilt all worn parts were replaced If the grips were worn or cracked they to were replaced But all replacement grips were Plastic/Bakelite good original Double diamond wood grips are good sellers. but there are MANY REPRO/Fake military on the market. y

okay.....walnut then. My mistake. These grips came from a box of stuff I bought at a yard sale. The previous owner, a retired US Army veteran passed away and his wife was selling a bunch of stuff and tossed in this box of militaria that belonged to her husband.
