I have a Marlin 1894 in 32 20. I was using it today and it quit firing. a couple of small pieces came out of the reiciever. One is a thin piece about an inch long and the other is a 1/4 " piece that looks like it may have broken off????

Any thoughts? Are they as easy as a Winchester to work on?

    Hello

I am looking at an old Marlin 1894 (44-40). It has an "18 barrel. It does not look "cut". Can anyone tell me if it is possible that the gun came originally with an 18" barrel?

    Thanks
    Jim

need a little info on a marlin I sold here on gb.

    I was emailed asking about

extraction of live rounds indicate some scoring on the brass and initial headspace check indicates a potential headspace problem. Wont know for sure until I get it to my gunsmith.

what could cause scoring on the brass iv seen it on other rifles and that had no problems also if the marlin has a potential headspace problem hows is that fixed adn what would have caused it.

I will stand behind what iv sold I just want to make sure im not taken.
also would it be better to take the marlin to a gun smith or send it back to marlin if I need to take it back.
    thanks

I would like to know what a Marlin 1894, made in either 1969 or 1970, 44 mag, still in original box, never fired gold medallion is worth.
    Thanks for any information.

I just bought a marlin 1894 lever action , It was fine for the first 300 rounds then it started to jam open. I found out when it jammed open I had to push the round in the magazine foward to finish the cycle. What would cause this to happen?

Does anybody know how to dismantle the Marlin 1894 type rifle for cleaning? I have no owners manual and the Marlin website does not offer an online manual. Your help would be greatly appreciated

Anybody comes through that door, you put two in the chest and one in the head!

What does the "JM" stamp signify on the 1894 barrels. Seems everybody lists it on the auctions.

The next round is not being retained in the magazine. It seems unlikely that the spring responsible for moving that catch would go weak in only 300 rounds so my guess is that some fouling or foreign object is interfering with the operation.

    Have you cleaned it thoroughly?

The screw holding this magazine loading gate spring came loose after 30 rounds caused same problem I tried to tighten and head rung off[xx(].

As Perry pointed out, Tighten the spring retaining screw, but not too tight.
You can snug it up good or apply a little blue Loc Tite to keep it from backing out.

The lifter is your problem. What happens is the shell lifter is raised by a cam on the lever. Many times the lever will have a sharp edge on it, this will gouge a small crease in the shell lifter. Call Marlin, they will send you the part. Use a fine stone to remove the sharp edge.

    There is no spring involved.

the screws on Marlins seem to work loose fairly often, causing lock-ups.
I"ve seen this happen at cowboy shoots, and it doesn't take much looseness to cause a problem.
