I have a Marlin 1894 in 32 20. I was using it today and it quit firing. a couple of small pieces came out of the reiciever. One is a thin piece about an inch long and the other is a 1/4 " piece that looks like it may have broken off????
Any thoughts? Are they as easy as a Winchester to work on?

I am looking at an old Marlin 1894 (44-40). It has an "18 barrel. It does not look "cut". Can anyone tell me if it is possible that the gun came originally with an 18" barrel?
Thanks
Jim
I was emailed asking about
extraction of live rounds indicate some scoring on the brass and initial headspace check indicates a potential headspace problem. Wont know for sure until I get it to my gunsmith.
what could cause scoring on the brass iv seen it on other rifles and that had no problems also if the marlin has a potential headspace problem hows is that fixed adn what would have caused it.
I will stand behind what iv sold I just want to make sure im not taken.
also would it be better to take the marlin to a gun smith or send it back to marlin if I need to take it back.
thanks

Thanks for any information.

Anybody comes through that door, you put two in the chest and one in the head!
Mine just has an empty hole there. What would it be called
Have you cleaned it thoroughly?
You can snug it up good or apply a little blue Loc Tite to keep it from backing out.
The next round is not being retained in the magazine. It seems unlikely that the spring responsible for moving that catch would go weak in only 300 rounds so my guess is that some fouling or foreign object is interfering with the operation.

It was cleaned thoroughly.
There is no spring involved.
I"ve seen this happen at cowboy shoots, and it doesn't take much looseness to cause a problem.
