I was in a pawn shop yesterday, and they have an XP100 with a price tag of $500.00. It has a plastic stock like the one in the GB link I have below which I posted for comparision. The barrel however is a good bit longer, I'm thinking 14". It sticks out past the forend a good 4". I think the barrel might be aftermarket, as I didn't see any stamping on it except a plain 7mm-08. The reciever is drilled and tapped for a scope mount, but has open sights. The rear sight mounts where the rear scope base mounts.
Over all condition I would rate 85%+. Tag says $500.00. I am thinking of offering them $375.00, and see if they'll settle on $400.00.
Also is the 7mm-08 commercially loaded or is it a roll your own round?
Thanks in advance for any help.

After the original, Remington made several versions that used 14" barrels. The sport of Silhouette shooting was catching on and the longer barrels were suited to that sport. The gun rag writers were also pushing the longer barrels for use in hunting.
If you don't see any of the Remington roll marks, your barrel may be a 'custom' barrel since this was a big business for a number of years. Remington did chamber for the 7mm-08 as listed below and there are several manufacturers currently that have factory loads available.
There are other new single shot actions available to build on but you certainly won't be able to build on one for the $400.00 to $500.00 you are quoting. New barrels are still being sold by Brownells and other barrel makers.

...Up until last season(?) he could only hunt with handguns because of the stupid laws of his state, and he is WELL versed in handguns, and I think he mostly used the XP.
...I'm sure he can answer your question(s) and you can take his answer(s) as gospel...and he will be happier than a puppy with two weeners to answer your question(s)...super knowledgeable and GREAT guy to boot...[;)]
