Hey everybody, been a while. I was just wondering about the consensus on the 160 grain bullet for the 30-30. I know the advertisers jumped on its praises but I would like to know the opinion of the people that have used them.

They are accurate in my Savage 340 and extend the range about 50 to 75 yards over the conventional flat points. Seems to turn the 30-30 into about a Savage 300. Good job to Hornaday for improving on a classic cartridge. If they are accurate in your rifle I would not hesitate to use them. Regards

I would love to try some but sadly I don't think I will get to. I am not going to pay what they are asking for loaded ammo and as of a month ago they are not going to sell them to reloaders [V]. Told them too bad, I guess I will have to load with the Remington SP's I am use to using. I have 500rds I need to load.

Concerning reloading, I understand they use a special duplex powder, similar to the light mags, and therefore the average reloader can not achieve the higher velocity of the factory load. It seems the bullets should available even if they are 200 fps slower than the factory. In my bolt action, the 130 gr Speer and Sierra bullets work great. Regards.

Didn't get to take a deer with one this year using the 30-30, but did get one with the 35 Rem Leverution, it worked very well. Found the velocity to be 2323ft/sec with the 30-30 instead of the 2410ft/sec advertised. Checked it in a Stevens 325 with 20inch barrel.
