Looking for a gun safe

Good morning all, I am in the market for a gun safe. I am looking for a 10-14 longgun fire resistant safe that is affordable and does not weight too much (how much weight is the average house floor designed ans built to withstand?). All suggestions and comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Whatever make you decide on getting, get double the size that you think you need. If it say's 14 gun, that means 14 single shot shotguns. If you have any scoped rifles, plan on them taking up at least two spaces. besides, if you get a bigger safe and have spaces left over, that's only reason enough to buy more guns.

Do a search on here for "gun safes" and you will see this topic has been covered numerous times.

P.S. I own Libertys and are very happy with them.

I am not a big fan of cheap gun safes! All the box stores sell them and they will give you protection from the "tweeker" crowd that will buzz through you house quickly to get some drug money.

For fire protect and protection from the more skilled among us invest in a Fort Knox or comparable high quality safe with a hardened door, protected hinges and serious fire protection.

This good advice! I have a Ft. Knox also but would add liberty and Champion to the list of quality manufacturers. Look for the UL rating on the inside of the safe door. This is a fair basis of comparison between safe manufacturers.

I have a Liberty Safe, and I really like it. It is mounted to the concrete in my basement.
A quality safe is going to be heavy! You definately do not want to take it up any stairs.

Cabelas sells a gunsafe for $899 this time of year that I believe is made by Cannon (at least the one I bought from Cabelas a couple of years ago was). I am happy with mine
