Bought a Browning Buckmark 22 for target shooting for me and my 13 year old son and also a Ruger mk111
Can anyone tell me which ammo is better or what you prefer is you own a similar gun. CCI and a few other makes just jam all the time, the only one that doesnt is the remington thunderbolt. Im not even firing over 100 rounds before jamming. Any good ideas lads.

Every gun has it's favorite ammo. It appears that your guns like the remington stuff you bought. If it is also accurate, then run, don't walk, back to the store where you bought it and get more of it before that production lot is gun. The next lot might not work right in your gun and you'll be out searching again.

Hello The lube and nose shape have a lot to do with how 22 SEMI AUTO Pistols function .On top of this temperature plays a part . The softer the lead bullet the more likely it will deform on the load ramp of pistol causing jams.Plus magazines that are defective or in need of adjusting cause jams. All these items contribute to dis-satisfaction on the shooters part. I shoot matches with 22 pistols S&W model 41 Hammerli 208s High Standard's of many models and both Kart and Marvel Conversion units on 1911 frames . one of the best ammos I have ever used is SK JADG pistol match special. This has black slick lube and shoots well in cold and hot weather. It is sold by CHAMPIONS CHOICE www.champchoice.com I suggest you buy a BRICK 500 rounds and try it then find ammo that looks as close to nose shape and lube "CCI WOLF" etc. MOST OF my pistols go somewhat around one jam per 1000 rounds fired or less.

Edit EDIT hello IWANTAUSERNAME straight blowback fire-arms need recoil impulse to function a CB DOES NOT have enough recoil to come close to function a semi auto they were made for bolt actions or othe type repeaters and single shots.

The Buckmarks are persnickety critters, but you've found the right bullet shape and velocity in the Remington Thunderbolts. Now try more brands at about 1255fps with a .138BC; they should offer similar nose profiles as the Thunderbolts.
Federal American Eagle, Winchester Wildcat, CCI Silhouette, and plain ol' Federal 710's should work in both guns, or at least the one that prefers the T'Bolts.
I might ask if you've cleaned the actions of either gun before you went shooting, or if the magazines seemed a little loose in the gun, or if the jams were during rapid firing?
The "problem" is that you will have to force yourself and that poor 13Y.O. son to go shooting with all different kinds of ammo, at all hours of the week, to find out which gun prefers which ammo. Bummer.

Only thing I've tried feeding my Ruger Mk II that hasn't worked has been CB caps...

I have always had excellent results with Remington target 22's. they were in green and blue boxes. Haven't bought any in a while, have a supply. Well worth the small extra cost.

It is seldom to find a high speed ammo out shoot a standard speed 22 target round. Try sticking with 40 grain standard speed target type rounds for best accuracy. I have found that Wolf Match Target shoots very well in my Buckmark. I can't remember the last jamb I had.

the remington golden bullets functioned in guns that were picky for me... they are clean to the touch and slick.. some of mine would not go for the yellow jackets, or the federal bullets either..
they did not have a problem with the cci however...try a lot of different ones and check the feed ramp for burrs and try to see where it is hit by the rounds... see how the magazines compare to others like it when pushing rounds out... see if other mags are more reliable.. also shooting it a lot could also help... see if some lube on the ramp helps... maybe the clip is not inserting deep as it should or not letting the rounds nose up fast enough or it is happening too fast... describe the jam and others may be able to help you more. Is the casing not ejecting clear; is the bullet nose hitting the bottom of the ramp; is the bullet sticking up to or past the bore but not going in? more info would help others to help u.

I have a Buckmark Camper that I don't remember it ever having a jam, I shoot all kinds of bullets mostly the cheapest from Walmark. I would thank that you need to clean the Buck Mark
