SPRINGFIELD 02 ??? bolt action

CAME ACROSS A SPRINGFIELD 3006 IN A GUN STORE TODAY IT WAS LABELED 02, IS THIS CORRECT?

it has scope muzzle brake good stock shorter barrel.

i cant see anything on the top for the scope mount

there asking $300

    Springfield .30-06 was the model of 1903, often abbreviated '03. 02 does not mean anything I can think of.

    Sounds like it has been altered a lot. Only you can judge if it is worth $300 to you the way it has ended up.

    i heard them call 03s but not 02s but IM not up on the older military guns. Was beginning to think nobody else was either[:)]. The gun looks pretty good the action was smooth but I had to push the carrier spring down to get the bolt to shut back when empty. IM sure it would have been worth more if they had left it alone.[:(]

    The top price range for sporterized 03's is $250-300. For top dollar, it should be in prime shape. That bore better be bright & shiny, & muzzle wear should be minimal. If the store doesn't have a muzzle wear gauge (it should measure no more than 2.0), use a single round of USGI M2 ball .30-06, inserted point first in the muzzle. At least 1/8" of copper jacket should stick out.
