Tough to understand. So few words. It shot 2' low at 100yds. Rear sight was adjusted after? It's zeroed now? 20 clicks lower than all way down? Done about what?

Lets see, It shot 2 ft low at 100yds with rear sight bottomed out?

Then you had to raise the rear sight 20 clicks to get zeroed, is that right?

If thats correct, it sounds about right.

I do not understand why 20 clicks up off the bottom wouldn't be correct. That would put near the middle of adjustment. You want to have adjustment on both sides of zero, and 20 clicks is not unreasonable.

Sounds OK to me. Read the instructions. I think that is how the tell you to set the sights to begin.

Been shooting High power for a bit more than 30 years now. In my experience most M1A's, M14's and M1's come to zero on the standard SR target (6 o clock hold) at 200 yards at 8 to 12 clicks. In the Garand matches we have I tell all new shooters to start at 10 clicks up. This usually works within a click or two. 20 at 100 is "a lot" but not horribly out of wack. Of course lowering the front sight raises the point of impact. Were I you, I wouldn't be too shy about filing maybe 0.040" off the front sight.

Had the same problem on my FAL with mis-matched front and rear sites. At max change, still low. So I simply filed the front site down enough, and then filed the sides to make it thin again. Works fine... not sure if you'll want to go filing your front site - on the FAL, it simply unscrews for replacement...

are we talking standard sight or NM sight with 1/2 click increments?

no wind battle sight dope with center mass shot is down all the way for under 100yds.

or, it sounds to me your front blade hasnt been trimmed to 100 yd dope. the way i was taught is, if you dont trim your front blade to 100yd dope, you will run out of clicks at 600/1000yds.

my match guns are doped to initial 200yd dope 6 clicks up sighted in.

for you? set up your target at 100yds. click up 5 clicks from bottom. fire. where is it? left or right? loosen your front blade and slide it left or right until center. high or low? low? trim front blade down until it hits bullseye center. high? replace front blade, its been trimmed too much.

OK went back out and re-sighted using Horaday 168 grn a-max match loads.(factory loads) the sights are standard sights not national match. the rear sight is on bottom it hit 26 1/2 inches low it took a total of 24 clicks to bring it to zero at 100yds.Usin winchester 147 grn fmj I had to back down 5 clicks to bring it to zero. In comparison my m1 garand only took 6 clicks off bottom and NM m1a took 4 clicks off bottom. My thoughts was that if it took 24 clicks was to much. the sight height from standard from national match are they different?
