I have a Browning 20 ga, mag. Will a 2/34" 20 ga. barrel work using 2 3/4' shells. The barrel is full choke and I want a more open choke to shoot clays. Exactally what barrel will work, lt. 20 or ??

You should be able to use full power 2 3/4 loads in you mag. Worked in my 12ga A5 magnum without a problem. Might have to adjust your ring arrangement though.

Nw the barrel swap, should work, but I am not 100% on that. I would see if someone knows on here, or call Browning. Someone there should know.

I had the same question posted a little later, I had not seen yours. I have a 20 ga A5 Mag and a A5 Lightweight. Last night I started taking them apart for comparison. My regular/Lightweight barrel will not work in the mag receiver because the extractor and ejector set up in the inside of the bolt/receiver is totally different. The reg/light bolt has an extractor on both the inside and outside of the bolt face, the Mag only has one on the outside. The ejector built into the barrel tang/extension which rides beside the bolt is also different and will not allow the bolt to clear it. My Mag will not close with the regular/lightweight barrel in place. If you look at the pic's of the Mag barrels they have a spring loaded ejector in the extension while the reg/lightweights have a fixed ejector. The bolt hits this ejector. I went to some other web sites and they also indicate that the reg/lightweight will interchange with each other, but not the Mag. 12 ga are different also, but in another area. My Mag shoots just fine with light loads if the rings are set right. Hope this helps.

Thanks Tripper. I guess I will have to get another 20 mag barrel. The one I have is full and I want a more open choke.
