45 cal. Stinger?

I obtained this interesting item from a collector who stated it was a clandestine CIA weapon. It fits in the palm of the hand and fires a single 45 cal. round. There are no markings on the weapon. Anyone know the history of this weapon?

The pengun may or may not have been from the CIA.
It is an "Any Other Weapon" (AOW}.
It is an NFA firearm and has to transferred via a tax stamp through the BATFE.
I hope you did that, otherwise you two have each committed serious felonies. Possession and transfer are both illegal without that tax stamp.
    Give it back NOW!

I can't disagree, other than with the use of the words "serious felonies" -- I'd say it is a "technical" felony (and there is a good likelihood a good attorney would be able to get any charges dismissed if there was no intent to violate the law).

I like to save the term serious felony for real crimes -- you know, those crimes where there is actually a victim.

Violating those rules written by irrational people and passed into law by corrupt, stupid politicians -- when no one's rights are violated by the action -- is just behavior that technically violates laws, but does not represent any serious crime. (It is still law one usually wants to be aware of and follow, because the government enforcing it can have very negative consequences in one's life.)

As to the pen-gun; most claimed "CIA" clandestine hardware is fake. The men and women involved in the agency's operations were/are not sloppy enough to bring "samples" home.

...I shot a derringer once, .45/410...probably a 3" barrel. After shooting it I a concluded that just carrying it unloaded it would be just as effective defense gun. If you need it, pull it out and use it to help you beat the hell out of the threat...or just toss it to the threat loaded and tell him to shoot you, as a sly grin graces your face. Forget recoil/muzzle jump, it just hurts.

...I would not consider shooting this POS!

...I saw one of the "original penguns" on another auction site, only this week, of course it looked a lot different than this thing; exactly like a pen. The one that has the pocket clip that (I think) folds down to act as the trigger. I know they are banned in a lot of states (stupid anti-gun NAZI poop laws in action) but are they an NFA banned item unless you grease the pockets of worthless government
alphabet agencies buy buying the tax stamp...Ive never heard a concise/complete answer...[;)]

I think the term STINGER is pretty appropiate if you fire the thing.
