I just ordered one of these. How are they compared to an M1A Springfield?

    bgjohn,

    Overall....the AR-10B is more accurate I think.

That would be incredible! The M1A that I have (Loaded model) did 3 shots you could cover with a nickel the first time I shot it. That was sighting it in (Iron sights).

I have not personally shot the 10B but I am a PROUD owner of a 10A4 and it has wonderful accuracy. It has superb accuracy even with cheap mil-surp. 1" and smaller groups @ 100yds with iron sights and even better with factory match and handloads. I honestly have not ever had a problem with my AR-10A4. The only downfall I could see with the 10B is that it is not equipable with optics due to the location of the charging handle. Good Luck with your new rifle and good shooting, I think you will be happy.

I didn't intend to use a scope on either rifle. Just the military peep sights. The ammo I used to sight in the M1A was GI ammo from India.

Everytime I bump into an AR10 on the range, the shooter is having mag problems (jamming issues) with them. If you get one buy good mags.

Do they use mil spec M14/M1A mags? Or do I need to buy the mags from Armalite?

The last time I looked at one(4-5 years ago), they were using modified M1A/M14 Mags at $100.00 per. That was when the weapons ban was still going though and all mags were more than they are today.

I thought I saw an AR10 the other day made by I don't remember who, that uses FAL mags. Those are a dime a dozen so to speak.

if it was using FAL mags it wasn't an Armalite, probably a Bushmaster or RRA. Mags run about $35 now from Armalite or you can convert M1A/M14 mags, but if you convert mags make sure they are good ones, I mean real good ones or you will have feed issues.

The AR-10B looks well made but the trigger pull sucks. I may upgrade to the match trigger ($145). The instruction book says you can convert M14/M1A mags to work in it. I think I'll just buy some mags from Armalite.
