Ruger Mini 30

Hi to all again. I have been gone for a while, but am back in the game, so here is my question.
I am looking to purchase a Ruger mini 30, SS, with a walnut stock, and am having a hard time finding out the value of such an animal. Looks to be in great shape, shot very little, and the owner is a close family member. I just want to make sure he gets what it is truly worth.
Can any of you experts tell me the current value of such a rifle, other than looking up the info in the blue book?
Appreciate your input, and I'm glad to be back.

...I really don't want to rain on your parade, and I hope you know, but the Ranch and Mini-30's are not know for accuracy,...more of a fun gun where decent accuracy does not matter. This is not my opinion, but a well known fact. I just don't want you to drop that kind of money, maybe add some "extras" ( a few more klinkies) only to be dissappointed that the accuracy lacks a lot to be desired.
...Another factor that is not as important as their lack of accuracy, to me anyway (Im kinda an accuracy nut myself) is the fact that the barrel heats up PDQ, more so than a lot of other rifles fired at the same rate...and quick/prolonged heat does not so good things to a rifle. Im not saying you would warp the barrel or anything close to that drastic, butt hey do over heat pretty easily.
...Like I said, I am NOT ragging on your gun, just wanted to make sure your are aware of some of their quirks...[;)]
Again, thanks for the heads-up!

I had a mini 30 and a mini 14 before. I got rid of both. They are best described as area weapons. As long as the target is as large as a barn and doesn't mind you walking rounds into it, you should do fine. However, if you actually want to hit near where you are aiming and you really want to stick with the 7.62x39 round, then go with an AK. Of course, if you live in Kalifornia where ballistics are different than the rest of the world and it is all about the stock, then a mini 30 would be your only option.
Have fun.
