I have a colt 1911 nickle series 70 with custom metal grips with the
following inscription inside. "Desinged Expressly For Colt firearms
custom shop by Sid Bell - Tully, NY 79". Bueatiful gun SS.#2159X B70
Any body know of Sid Bell and the colt custom shop? What do I have?
Any extra value? Thanks in advance...

I think these pewter grips were marketed by Colt in the 60s & 70s. There were a couple different styles from the Colt Coat of Arms (Custom Shop) to a simple scroll pattern. The grips show up here or eB occasionally. You can do a search for colt grips and see if you come up with any to see what they're actually going for. The Coat of Arms grips are probably a little more scarce than the scroll ones. I'm just guessing $100 for them?

tomh. Thank you. the grips I have are pewter with Colt coat of
arms on the right side and the American eagle, wings spread and
holding a shield and arrows. Its copyrighted by Sid Bell 1979.
None listed of GB today but I'll keep watching. Think I'll keep
em and buy a set of stainless grip screws. Thanks again...
