Win 43 218 bee value

What would approx value of a Win 43 in 218 bee that is NIB? A coworker says he's found one that is absolutely new in box and the box is even in excellent condition. I think it's a standard. I have not seen the gun so I am somewhat skeptical that it's not a "restoration" but he won't tell me where it is until he figures out if he's gonna get it or not. The thing wasn't even advertised. Guy had a gun for sale in the local paper and when my coworker went to look at the advertised gun he noticed the 43 in the cabinet. Guy said he "might" sell it if he got a good enough offer, but I don't have any idea what it would be worth. I'm guessing $1500-2K maybe based on ones I've seen sell on the net, but I've never seen a NIB

    Desireable caliber that is enjoying a bit of a comeback, NIB status is going to equal BIG BUCKS for sure. There are fewer and fewer of those evey year. This one is going to be determined by the market most times, but just to lay a "fair" offer out there, I would offer $1500, and see how that goes. Bert will be along soon, and give you the real poop!

    That's assuming I even get to make an offer on it. If my coworker decides he wants it and offers the guy the right amount I won't even get a chance at it. If he can't come up with the $$$ I might have a chance at it, and while I want to start low (but not insultingly low)and work myself up, I don't want to overpay either. My coworker won't even tell me where it is right now because he thinks I'll buy it out from under him[:D] On the one hand, I would LOVE to have one of these little beauts, but on the other it would always be a safe queen; I might be better off finding a good used one that I could actually shoot without worrying about driving it off the lot.

    wm69;
    Always what the market will bear. Go in at 1250 - 1500 as a fair offer. I collected them for years and recently sold the collection. My Deluxe brought $1100 in 95%. Be ware of fakes.

    It is next to impossible to predict what a diehard collector will pay for a truely NIB specimen. That said, if it were mine, I would start the bidding at $1500.

    Waiting now to see if I even get a chance at it. I'll believe it is a gunuine NIB specimen only after I see it. If I even get to that point I'll take it from there. Thanks for the replies!
