Hey guy's so I kinda gave up on modifying the 91/30 and the 8mm. I have a deposit down on a Remington 700PSS. I need help with optics, I'm a young yet old school photography dude so I know camera optics but scope optics are a bit different. I was hoping for something in the 24 power range My price range is in the $800 area. Also with most scopes can you get those scope caps that you can pop up once you're ready to shoot so not to reflect the light or are those only options on 'certain' scopes.. Just for curiosity's sake.. Anyways I would really appreciate any advice, I'm really looking forward to picking this rifle up and punching some long distance holes in some gallon milk jugs [:D]

Instead of all the "experts", I'd figure I'd ask the real experts. I have a Bushmaster XM15. The one with carry handle. Wondering opinions on a good optic that goes on the carry handle. Asked at other black rifle sights and I have basically been told to buy another rifle with a flat top. While I am sure I will end up doing that at some point, I would still like the option on this rifle. Also told to cut off the carry handle, but again, that just does not appeal to me. I am looking for one of the red dot sights, etc... I am looking for the closer range tactical options, not the long range shots. Looking at the very up close out to 300 yards. Thanks in advance and looking forward to your advice.

I know this is a forum for guns. But I'm looking to buy a good pair
of Binoculars. I dont want to pay alot. I have a friend who bought some Brunton Lite Tec 10x42 from Cabelas for $99.00. I looked at Brunton's web site and read about them. Their MSRP is $239.00. Can anybody tell me what they think about them or how good they are? Mt friend bought them for his wife. He has compared them to his Lica's that he paid $800.00 for. The only different he says is in low light he can tell a difference. Any help would be great.

I cannot comment on rifle scope but I purchased a Barska 10x42 binoc for $50 bucks - it's not as crisp but it's at least 10X better than my 15+ year old $19.99 Simmons 10x50 binocs. It's cheap enough to get banged up out in the field - mine has a light armor type coating - "ruggedized". It's my back up and I just leave them in my truck.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have three on small caliber rifles. Optics are crisp and clear even at 24 power, as good as my Bushnel Banner. They hold zero and adjust fine. However I do not use them for hunting just target shooting, I handle the rifles and scopes very carefully, they do not get wet or banged around in a truck or in the brush. Overall I am very happy with them, especialy for the price, check out Sportsmans Guide. I see new more expensive Barskas out there now, But still very atractively priced, supposed to be very durrable. For a hunting rifle I would want the confidence of having more proven optics, but the Barska may be just fine, maybe someone out there can give a better review on their toughness. Hope this helps.

As always, you get what you pay for. Get a Swift, Leupold, or Burris and you will never regret it.

I have a 6x24 on my dog gun, so it gets banged around for days on end and still holds true. I thought I would try it out for the price also. Good clear scope but its no leupold
