Do a GOOGLE search with "Colt Ace" as your search term, Lots of information will be forthcoming.
Colt hasn't made any of the Aces for years, and they have become very desirable to collectors. If you can buy it right, it will likely be a good deal. Chances are the "Floating Chamber" has been soldered up, lot of them get sold because of that.

The Blue Book also lists Postwar manufacture of the Service Ace from 1978 to 1982 with serial #s from SM14,001 to SM43,830.
If yours is a Pre-War or Wartime model, it could be worth (depending on condition, finish, and if it has "U.S. Prop'y" or U.S. Inspector markings) up to around $9,000.
Post-War models can be worth (again, depending on condition and originality) up to $1,100.
