I'm tring to find out when this revolver was made. It's a 32 S&W 5 shot top brake with a serial # R975. It has a 2 3/4" barrel and plastic grips.

the model 66 trailsman was introduced in 1958 as a 6 inch barrel 22 rimfire caliber model, in 1959 a short barrel (2 3/4 inch) version called the model 66S was introduced also in 22 rimfire. in 1962 two centerfire calibers were added to the model 66S, 32 S&W Long and 38 S&W both 5 shot. these centerfire model were not as popular as the rimfire version and not as many were manufactured serial number are rarely over four digits. the 32 caliber used the "B" letter code and the 38 used the "P" letter code. i believe your serial number R975 is actually B975. the post WWII serial numbers for iver johnson handguns are not readly available. you model 66S was mostly likely manufactured in the mid to late 1960s (1965-1968). the model 66 trailsman does not have the hammer the hammer action it uses a rebounding hammer. a companion model was introduced in 1964 the model 67 viking that does have the hammer the hammer action. the model 66 trailsman and the model 67 viking were both discontinued in 1974 and were the last of a long line of top break revolvers manufactured by iver johnson's arms & cycle works. the company was sold in 1975 and only solid frame revolvers were manufactured until 1978 when all revolver production was stopped and only a new line of semi-automatic firearms were manufactured.
