    Yeppers!

I use CLP (And have been for SOME YEARS NOW) on dam near anything metal. If you run it down the bore (as with any fluid or substance) be SURE to SWAB IT OUT before firing!
For the most part, I use CLP AFTER the bore cleaner as a lube and protectant.

This old Army Gunsmith has been using it for years and continues to do so. It's the best stuff yet.

Good stuff, especially for military weapons like the ar etc. I use it on them as a cleaner and lube. Works great.

CLP- Cleaner, lubrication and protectant. Good stuff? Good enough. Seperately are there better cleaners? Probably. Seperately are there better protectants? Probably. And are there better lubricants out there? Definately. But to have all three in one conveniant, easy to use, time saving bottle it's hard to beat, but can be.

Lets face it, the military doesn't use the stuff because it's the best product to use to prolong the life of your firearm. They use it because it's simple and fool proof. I couldn't give a rats behind about rust prevention, all my internal parts are oiled and my firearms aren't usually left laying in my backyard. While CLP is a pretty good cleaner, there are better bore cleaners out there for sure, but for just spaying down the inside of, lets say an AR, it works great. As for its lubrication abilities, there are far better products you can use. One such product I have found to be far supirior to CLP in the lube department is Militec. And if applied, as per their instructions, it leaves an oil-less, slick as glass coating on the metal parts. According to their site, the military seems to be looking into their product since the oil-less to the touch lube doesn't allow sand to stick to it as bad as CLP. Go to their site and email them and ask for a free sample. I did and had two tubes delivered to my door in a couple days. Been buying it ever since.

Google "Eezox" - you'll find ton's of extremely positive comments. I sent a case of it to buddy "in country" in Afghanistan. It leaves a dry lube on any metal. He and his teammates used it for everything from weapons to Apache door hinges. No more powder/sand gumming up the works.

They had LOTS of CLP left over when they rotated home, but very little Eezox.

Have to 2nd Will as well!
In a dry dusty climate, Eezox is great as a lube. Does not gum up and collect every low flying bit of dirt.
For our more temperate climate CLP is just fine and does multi duty cleaning and protecting!

People's opinions on CLP's usefulness may differ according to their experience. The formulation of USGI CLP and the BreakFree/CLP that you buy at Wally World are different. The GI stuff has a higher percentage of cleaner.

It can be used as an all purpose substance, but my personal procedure is to perform initial cleaning with a good solvent and then go over things with BreakFree/CLP. Besides acting as a lubricant and rust preventive, it's penetrating properties make cleaning easier the next time.
