Star Modelo Super ammo

Hi,
I recently obtained a Star Modelo Super in 9mm Largo. Can 9mm Luger (9 x 19) ammo be safely shot without a barrel conversion?

I noticed that although the case length of the Largo (23mm) and the case length of the Luger (19mm) differ by 4mm, the overall length difference of the rounds I have differ by only 2mm. (The Largo is a hollow tip and the Luger FMJ.)

Also, I need the thumb safety lever for this gun. Any recommendations as to where to get one?

Nope, you need 9mm largo ammo. Some is out there, do a google for it or search on the auction side.

+1 Use only the ammunition that a firearm is chambered for.

Largo 9x23 and Luger 9x19 ARE NOT interchangeable. Largo ammo is not that rare. Try www.e-gunparts.com for the safety lever. The Star 9mm largo is a nice gun by the way.

Thanks for the info. I'll make sure and use Largo ammo only and just ordered some from cheaper than dirt as well as the thumb safety from sarcoinc.

I do like the feel of the gun and am anxious to try it out.

As the folks said- DON'T. The rounds headspace on the case mouth- they may fire, but not a good thing.
