    Welcome and Hello ABBYDC .

Ruger MK-II. Are we talking about their 22 auto-pistols ?

Modification to reduce flip on HANDGUNS is generally cutting slots on the top of the barrel near the end.
Some don't really condsider it a BRAKE as it isn't reducing recoil...just flip, and I believe PORTING is the wording I'm looking for. A good gunsmith / machinist can do it.

If we are talking about a 22, I can't seem to grasp it. My Ruger MK's have the heavier bbl, so I really have no flip.
Even if you cut/drill some vent (port), I don't know if the round has enough gas left to do much good....maybe someone else can put some measure on that.

    Good Luck

You would gain nothing by putting a brake on a .22lr.

I have 2 Mark I pistols with FACTORY.. Marked "Ruger".. "muzzle brakes".. The weight of the brake and the upward directional thrust of the gases, completely eliminate ALL barrel flip.. Makes rapid fire target aquisition really easy.....
