Hello experts.

I was wondering :

A regular shotgun/pumpgun barrel, like for the Rem 870...

What do I need to know to order one from the US ??
Are there any papers to be filled out or any other legality issues?

A friend of mine is looking for a barrel, preferably as short as possible - so around 18.5", perhaps with mobilechokes... or whatever.

to the best of my understanding when your buying parts no ffl license is needed unless your getting a complete reciever with serial numbers

That was my understanding too, but my friend said that Cabelas was NOT allowed to ship barrels out of the country and couldn't help him.

(I think it was Cabelas - never shopped there anyhoo)

Personally, with my knowledge to other shops - what they do is SAY they are not allowed to ship out of country, but what they really mean is "We don't know the rules or some want the paperwork".

    I mean, it's not like it's a complete weapon as such - it's still just a barrel. Ok, a vital part of a gun, but it's a pumpgun/shotgun-barrel.

    I've seen no restrictions there.

So I just wanted to check up with you here - to see if anyone knew anything more about it.

Oh, and the barrel would have been exported to Greenland, part of Denmark.

I could be wrong but I think you need to ship this through a business that has an export license. The folks that get mentioned here usually is Simpson's LTD:

    http://www.simpsonltd.com/export.php?osCsid=43b2e7ef4d65885c7f1307d03485272b

Part of this has to do with taxation, I'm sure, so check the rules and maybe contact Simpson's for a quick explanation.

    Best.

The buisnesses here don't usually bother with it or worse yet - know how to do it.

Keep in mine it's a small community of people with Greenlandic as 1st language, and broken danish as 2nd language.
English is very rarely used, if it can't be had through Denmark - they don't bother with it.

Ordering the barrel through Denmark, having the goods taxed and invoiced - and then re-exported and tax-refund - that takes up a lot of time.

I have ordered several parts, internal parts for guns that is - and never had a hitch anywhere.

So I wondered why a barrel would be any different, since the Serial numbered receiver is the actual weapon in both the US as well as Denmark and here.

Here, you can own, buy, sell guns - and never show any kind of papers, permissions or anything.
No age restriction, no ammo restriction other than explosivetipped and 20mm being the upper limit.

It is no hazzle at all, ordering parts, barrels and so on in Denmark - it's just shipped directly to the consumer.

Problem is - noone here had the barrel he's looking for, and noone in Denmark carries it as standard.

What "gets" me, is when a company says - "Oh we are not allowed to ship it to you" - when they should have told... "We just don't want to put in the paperwork, it's too boring"

heres my take on it...couldnt someone...say person A send you the barrel and tell the USPS the contents of the package?? i just sent off a package to new zealand, and the only form i had to fill out was a customs declaration. took about 35 seconds. all i had to do was declare what was inside the box and the approx value in USD.

im in no way an expert on this matter....but im my own world, i would think it should be that easy. maybe its different cause its a piece to a larger puzzle?? and im also wondering why it has to be exported threw a certain "company"???
