Does anyone know of a company that makes an open sight that would replace a peep sight on an ar15? or could you cut the peep sight in half to make an open sight? I like open sights and peep sights do not work for running coyotes. thanks

You could always put something like a Trijicon sight on it

tazz, I'm not sure there is a sight/scope made that will make it any easier to hit a running coyote. I shoot coyotes here on the farm on a pretty regular basis and I can only think of one time I ever hit a coyote on the run. Was shooting an old sks, put about 10rds through the barrel as fast as I could pull the trigger, when I finally hit him. Although, truth be told, I believe the coyote RAN into the last round.[:D]

One thing I've learned over the years with coyotes is, don't take pot shots at them if they are out of range and don't shoot at them if they are already on the run. You're just making them leary, and next time you see him he will be even further out of range or already on the run when he hears/sees you, OR you won't see him again. Although it's hard to not shoot at 'em, I'll just watch them, until one day he's where I can take a good shot.

Soory this didn't answer you sight question, I got sidetracked. I just love me some coyote hunting![:D][8D]

I know in my neck of the woods we hunt coyotes by driving them like a deer drive and they are always running. In the bushmaster catalog or web sight I have seen a open circle with a fine crosshair inside it that replaces the front sight post on a ar15 used with the wider appiture might give you a wider field of view. Otherwise like others have mentioned a nice red dot or trijicon scope might due the trick. happy huntin
