I am selling my P22 and someone offered to trade me for a Star M40 semi-auto. I don't know anything about this gun. Anybody know if they are reliable, good guns, etc., and how much they're worth? Thanks.

I believe your referring to the Firestar M40 ? It wouldn't be a bad deal, the Firestars had a reputation for being good quality, though heavy all steel pistols. Since Star has been out out of business for almost 10 years now, be sure and test fire the pistol with all available magazines. As you might have problems geting replacement parts, and spare magazines.

I was reading on a couple of sights that they are still making guns. Are you sure they are out of business? And yes, I was referring to the firestar m40.

To the best of my knowledge, they went belly up in 1997.
