What do you guys recommend for a good semi-auto .308 in the fifteen hundred dollar range, for a poor enlisted Marine

Springfield M1A. There are several models to choose from, but they are all excellent rifles. I have a couple of the full length models and a Socom. They are well built and accurate.

I would say you could choose a fal many different producers.
Or a HK-91 or a SAR 8

Used original HK91 or non-parts kit FAL (sar48/4800, original imbel import, etc).

I have the socom 16 and just love it light enough but heavy enough to take a lot of the recoil, it very accurate and short enough for the urban warfare thing. good for the 3 gun. just my 2 cents worth.

You can also check out the PTR-91 line of rifles produced by JLD Enterprises Inc. Gun tests showed that these guns were better made and more accurate,than the HK-91's, and did not string groups when the barrels got hot like the HK's. I love mine it's awesome...

i dont know about tatical but browning and remington make a semi auto 308
