New sight for AR-15

I could use some advice from you older AR-15 shooters. The older I get the more problems I have with iron sights on my AR,I usually use the 6 o'clock hold but I have tried center mass and line of white holds but the black post on black bullseyes are becoming harder to see. I've been considering a reticle front sight(hooded with crosshair) from KNS precision in the Midway catalog. It would resemble looking through a small scope. Have any of you tried this sight? or had any experience with it ,good or bad? I have come to really appreciate your members advice and I get lots of good info reading the questions and answers in "the ask the experts" thanks Dave

If you want to stick to iron type sights try some of the tritium dot type for AR's. I think Midway has them.
My old eyes (59) pick up red dots or tritium easily.
Aperture sights operate on an interesting principle. Restricting your field of vision to a small area shortens your depth of focus, much like the f-stop setting on a camera, meaning that objects at widely different distances become more closely in focus.
You might not be able to focus on a small object at the distance of your front sight and still be able to see your target clearly enough, but viewing these through a restriction will shorten the depth of focus between the two. The smaller the aperture your vision is restricted to the less difference in the focus of your front sight and target.
