If your 56 really is in "mint" condition (with no pics it's hard to tell) which means 100% factory finish, both metal and wood and no dings or blemishes, it theoretically is worth $1000 or somewhat more. There's a couple on the web right now; one IS nearly mint and the asking price is 1K. The other is a brown gun starting at $995. Neither has gotten any traffic. There were also two different variations of the 56: one is the "Fancy Sporting Rifle" with fancy walnut and checkering which is extremely rare and very valuable, and the other is the 56 chambered for short only. I'm assuming yours is neither one of these. I also see you need a magazine. It should use the same mag. as the model 57 (I have two of those) and the 69/69A series. Best place to get an original is on ebay; they come up all the time. Brownells makes an excellent repro. mag. that I use in all my bolt Win. .22's, saving the expensive originals for God knows what-but at least I don't put any wear and tear on them. Good luck. -Asa
