Gun Stock Crack

I am bidding on a gun that the owner revealed a slight crack in the stock after I bid. Can cracks really be repaired with 100% certainty that they won't crack after the gun is fired?

the answer is no. i bidded on and won a shotgun on gb. seller in decription said wood had no cracks when i received it there were 4 cracks in butstock am looking for new stock now. at least your seller is honest enough to let you know about crack. good luck

Many cracks can be repiared and be as strong or stronger than origonal. It just depends on where and what kind of crack and if you know what to do.

Of course you do have the option of canceling your bid if the discription was changed after you bid.....

depending on what hes selling it for, if its cheap enough so you can replace the stock, go for it

Hundred's of stocks have been 100% repaired and will never break again at that point.
They just have to done the right way is all.........
I had a XP 100 rear grip stock fall off the 4 wheeler and it shattered in 4 pieces and it's still going strong after 6 years of hard use, and you can hardly see where it was put back together
unless you look really close and know about it........

I routinely repair cracked stocks. It is doable with some patience and care. None of my repairs have failed. Depending on the availability of a new stock and the severity of the crack a new stock would be an option, but if the piece has collector value it could be devalued by a non original stock.

That's not the stock, it's one of the handguards. A crack like that is only cosmetic. Very easy to replace the part but matching the color is the hard part. It already looks like the rear handguard is another color.

Function wise, it isn't a problem. Cosmetically it's an easy fix, easier than matching wood.
