Hello all! New to GB, and I have to say, so far I like what I've seen. That being said, I'll get to the point. I'm VERY interested in Desert Eagles, and I was wondering what should I be looking for and taking into consideration when making a buying decision? Israeli-made vs. American-made? Not worried about anything cosmetic, just basically design, make, and functionality issues. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I was just offered a Desert Eagle in 44mag in like new condition ( I have not seen it yet) without the original box, just the gun. It is offered to me for $800.00 does that seem like a fair price?
    Thanks in advance,

About a year ago I purchased a new Desert Eagle in .44mag from a small gunshop in Texas. The gun is marked Made In Israel. My friends tell me that makes it more valuable. Why is that so? Also I have yet to see another one for sale that says Made In Israel. Where are they now made? My gun is blued, what is it worth? It is still in new condition, with a hard case, a manual, and gas port cleaning tool.

I have a Desert Eagle in .44 mag that keeps coming apart when fired.

The firing pin, firing pin spring, bolt stabilizing pin, spring and guide, bolt guide pin and firing pin stop all fall out of the gun, leaving the bolt stuck in the barrel with a live round inside.

Anyone know why this keeps happening, and how to fix it ?

This was picked up on a trade, and now I have an idea why the guy traded it [}:)]

I'm interested in a DE I saw for sale. Is the Mark XIX the only series that has interchangable barrels? The Magnum site only lists .357, .44 & .50 as available calibers. I know they used to make a .41, but didn't they make a .440 Cor-Bon as well?

Hello just my $.02 sorry I see more con's then pro's THE pro it is one of the BADEST semi auto in the land[:p][:p][:p]. Con's # 1 ammo cost. # 2 you will learn how to flinch. #3 Pistol cost #4 you WILL learn how to flinch #5 grip size is too big except for guys with giant hands #6 it will hurt your ability to shoot any hand gun well #7 will be hard to conceal carry # 8 oh did I mention it will teach you how to flinch Concussion and noise as much if not more then the recoil.[:0]

Buy it, try it, sell it if you don't like it. Makes a lot of noise.

I too have to say if you ain't got big hands you might want to look for something else. At least go handle it before you buy it, if you haven't already.

For MOST (noticed I said most) of the people I know that bought one, the fad of having a "Desert Eagle" quickly passed. But to each his own.[8D]

Got one from the in-laws a few Christmas' ago. It was on my "buy list" since the first time I saw it. Practical, no...loud and obnoxious, h#ll yeah...fun to shoot, definitely. Ammo is expensive, the grip is huge, but I love it. I do not shoot it every time I go to the the range but it is nice to have on those days you just feel like making some noise and doing some damage to the targets. If you like it, buy it. I rarely see them used in a gun store around here, must be a reason.

In my experience, .50AE is fairly tame, at least compared to .500 S&W. The grip IS big; and, if you ever fire unjacketed bullets, you will soon find yourself in posession of a very bulky single-shot pistol.

I think they look cool, but wouldn't own one.

I am far from a large framed person,..but I can handle the 50AE easily. With a 6" barrel,..it can be a bit of a handful,...but with the 10" barrel, it is a sweetheart. Of the 2 I have shot,..one mine and one a pards,..they are quite accurate after getting used to them.

    Been there, done that.

The novelty wears off quickly. And then you have a big nasty looking pistol with no real practical use other than impressing your friends.

Actually, for hunting, and knocking down steel rams at 200 meters, that pistol has a lot of use. It meets it's intended design purpose well. More energy out to 100 yards than a 44 mag., with just a bit more recoil. I have both, a 44, and 50 AE DE pistols. They both, when scoped, and shot off the bench, show remarkable accuracy at the 100 yard mark. Since they are gas operated, cast or swaged lead bullets are not a good option for hand loading. Also, recoil, even though the grips are huge, is really not a problem, as the gun nearly weighs in at 5 lbs.

I own one myself. it is a handful i put after market houge grips on mine to help me grab on to it better. I don't think ammo cost is to bad at 18 dollars a box. Handle it if you like buy it there alot of fun good luck.
