Riflescope considered weapon after jan 1st '07 ?

I heard some rumors, that a riflescope is considered a weapon or weapon-part.. and cannot be exported without proper papers after January 1st, 2007.??

Is that right. ??!!??

    It's a rumor based in fact.

    Certain items, including firearms, firearms accessories, electronics, etc, etc may have export restrictions to certain countries. Those items are found on the Export List. And, it changes. You need to check with the US Dept of State.

    So, the answer to your question is: "It depends."
