New Stock for '03

I'm really interested in a '03-A3 Springfield Stock advertised in the new Cabela's catalog. Composit, I guess. Doesn't say. It says, "Minimal fitting allows use of original or altered models. Comes with textured finish, swivel studs and recoil pad".
I've got an '03 that my uncle passed down to me that he "sporterized" back in the '30s or so. Anyway, the forend of the original stock has been shortened and a recoil pad has been added so the original stock is ruined. My question is: Will this stock from Cabela's intended for an A3 fit the barreled action of an 03? I know the differences in the two models are minimal and I don't think they were in the area that would make a difference.....am I wrong? I might have to do some work around the bolt........

As I recall (and I am not well versed on the Springfields in relative terms)there is a difference in the recoil lug area between the two. I would beat them up with some questions, or figure out who manufactures it (the comp stock) and call them to check for compatibility. Good luck!

about the only difference between the 1903 and the 03a3 is the rear sight sleave on the 1903 (as far as fitting stocks goes).
