Does anyone have knowledge of the newest addition to the Ruger line in the .375 caliber? I have read about them several times but was wondering how the new caliber is shooting.

    Moose,
I don't have any experience with the .375 Ruger, but I do have one of the new Hawkeye 77's. (.257 Roberts)
I have read several articles on the .375 and I gather that velocity equals or exceeds the H & H version with same bullets. Sounds like a great round; especially for the big bears.
As for the Hawkeye, it's the best bolt action yet from this company, IMHO. Matte finish (with matching rings) is nicely done, stock is trimmer, recoil pad better, trigger is improved, and if you like that kind of thing, the bolt does NOT contact the follower on an empty magazine. Also trigger guard and floorplate are steel and on the all the Hawkeyes I've seen (o.k., 6 or 7) are trimmer and better fit to the stock than on the typical 77.
Hopefully someone will be along soon and give us some first hand info on the .375 part of the equation.

    Moose,
Apparently postings travel a faster wire than emails. Nothing yet, but I'll check my mailbox later this afternoon and get right back to you.

Forget that last post. I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize that the one preceeding it was directed to moose, and not from him, to me. Make any sense? Oh, well,
    Happy Trails, all!
