i inherited a stevens arms & tool co crackshot side lever .22 lr. ser. # N231. bore is fair, wood is good, only rust is screws on butt plate from damp floor in closet. bluing mosly gone but no rust pitting. any ideas on when it was manufactured & value

    From your description of the markings and mechanism you have the "No. 16" version. This was made in the early years of the 20th Century, prior to the First World War. Flayderman values them in the $100 - $200 range in the condition you describe. As his "8th Edition" is 6 years old now, the value of the "Crack Shot" might have changed.

    I forgot to mention that it had a looped screw behind the forearm that when loosened the barrel could be removed. Maybe they were all like that.Cute little gun.
