Colt Python nickel finish

I've heard that Hoppes No 9 will pit and damage the nickel finish on Colt Pythons. Can anyone confirm this to be true? Are any other cleaning solvents NOT recommended for cleaning nickel guns? Thanks

Years ago I damaged the finish on a factory nickel plated 2nd Gen. Colt SAA using Hoppe's #9. I don't know if they use the same forumula now as they did in those days.

For all my nickel finishes and wonderfinishes, etc. I use G96. Can't go wrong with it.
