I just acquired a Sako Forester L-579 243 cal missing the floor plate. I'm having extreme difficulty trying to locate one. My question is are there any others that can be adapted or altered to fit the L579 action if I can't find one?

Yes. To old and can't remember which one's (last I worked with these was in the 60's), however, go to www.sako.fi and you can get spec's for all the older models.

Sorry I can't help more. Hopefully a true expert will answer this for you.

the only other floorplate that interchanges is the browning safari. You could fabricate a floorplate by hand if you have the inclination, otherwise the only other hope is patience and watching fleabay. Sometimes a triggerguard will showup and sell for about $125-175$.
